During a conversation with the MinMax show, Schreier delved into the various projects in the works at Naughty Dog. The company is currently working on a multiplayer mode for the survival horror sequel, while some members of the team are assisting with the first game’s PS5 remake. However, Schreier also revealed that previously planned DLC for The Last of Us Part 2 has potentially been shelved:
“I believe at one point [Naughty Dog] was thinking about DLC, but I don’t think that happened. I dunno, they might still do something.”
Wait… The Last Of Us Part 2 DLC?
Previously, Naughty Dog’s co-president Neil Druckman said there were “no plans” for The Last of Us Part 2 DLC. While this is somewhat surprising, especially when you consider the game’s popularity, Naughty Dog might be holding off until there’s a PS5 enhanced version of the game. That being said, a PS5 port of the sequel is yet to be announced, meaning fans could be waiting a while for additional content.
While Schreier is a reliable source, Naughty Dog’s plans for Part 2 DLC could change. However, Sony’s window of opportunity is swiftly passing by, especially since the game has been out for almost a year now. Who knows, perhaps Naughty Dog will create a PS5 version of the game alongside additional DLC. If such a thing is in the works, it’ll likely happen after the release of the PS5 remaster. Of course, this is all mere speculation, as none of the above has been announced or confirmed by Sony.
Hopefully, we’ll be getting more content soon. Thankfully, both games are playable on the PlayStation 5 thanks to backwards compatibility.
