SEGA may have accidentally revealed the name of its new Sonic game, according to a report by Eurogamer.
Yesterday (May 26), SEGA gave fans a short glimpse at Sonic’s next big adventure. As you’d perhaps expect, SEGA was elusive with any details about the game, other than giving it a 2022 release date. However, a recent press release has inadvertently confirmed that the game is actually called Sonic Rangers. Whoops!
In the press release, SEGA listed some of its Sonic Central highlights. Unfortunately for SEGA, this list includes the name of its new project:
“Announcing new console experiences, Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Sonic Rangers, further details on Netflix’s Sonic Prime, mobile news, musical events and much more!”
So, what exactly is Sonic Rangers? Well, according to a deep dive by Twitter user PTKickass, it’s the title of Service Games’s next big Sonic game.
Prior to SEGA’s accidental press release, PTkickass discovered references to “Sonic Rangers” within the Sonic Central trailer’s data. Better still, the part-time modder also discovered references to some sort of “time warp”, which suggests the game has sci-fi elements.
