Resident Evil 4 VR was officially announced at the recent Resident Evil showcase event and it looks better than we could have hoped for!
I could list all the re-releases of Resident Evil 4 since it first launched back in 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube, but I’d seriously be here all day.
I often laugh each time Resident Evil 4 gets a re-release, as it seems that with every console that releases across multiple generations, RE4 creeps up from beneath the floorboards.
One of my favourite ports of RE4 was with the Wii version from 2007. This version of the game made great use of the systems motion controls and it was a fun, new way to experience this game.
However, this next version of Resident Evil 4 for the Oculus Quest 2 might be the best version of the game that we’ve seen, enhancing the motion control aspects that I enjoyed from the Wii port.
While the visuals look pretty much the same, it’s the animations of this VR version that impress me the most.
Not only is the game played in a first-person perspective, but the reloading of weapons looks great and I love what they’ve done with the inventory management system.
Sure, I will be gutted that I won’t be able to play this game as I don’t own a VR headset or capable PC, but I’m still looking forward to seeing my favourite content creators experience Resident Evil 4 in VR.
More details on Resident Evil 4 VR will be revealed at the Oculus Gaming Showcase which takes place on April 21st at 11pm BST/12am CEST on April 22nd.
Resident Evil 4 VR will be developed in collaboration with Capcom, Facebook, and independent Studio Armature.
