Live-Action Pokemon Series In Early Development For Netflix

It is reported that a live-action Pokemon series is currently in early development, and it will apparently be coming to Netflix.

In an exclusive report from Variety, they claim that their sources detailed that Joe Henderson will write and produce the series. Henderson is currently the executive producer and showrunner of another Netflix series, Lucifer.

Detective Pikachu will be an inspiration

While plot details are currently unknown, it is claimed that the live-action series will have comparisons to the 2019 Detective Pikachu movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith.

Variety has reached out to representatives of Netflix and Joe Henderson, but at the time of writing there has been no responding comment.

In recent years Netflix has really been pushing the boat out when it comes to video game adaptations. Netflix has already had success with the likes of Castlevania, Dragon’s Dogma, and more recently, Resident Evil.

Netflix is becoming the home of video game adaptations

However, that will not be the end of Netflix’s video game to series adaptations, because we also have the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, and much more to look forward to. Netflix is certainly becoming the home of video game adaptations.

In terms of the live-action Pokemon series speculation, it could very well be the case of no smoke without fire. That said, we must still take all unconfirmed rumour and speculation with a pinch of salt.
