Intel Core i9-11900K “Rocket Lake-S” flagship CPU spotted – VideoCardz.com

Intel Rocket Lake-S flagship spotted at Ashes of the Singularity GPU benchmark website

It appears that a leaker APISAK was able to find the first entry featuring Intel Rocket Lake-S processor at the Ashes of the Singularity GPU benchmark website. The processor has been detected with a base clock of 3.5 GHz, but sadly there is no information on the Turbo frequency. Such a base clock would in fact be 200 MHz lower than the current-gen flagship model.

According to Intel, the flagship next-gen Rocket Lake-S processor will be an 8-core and 16-thread processor. Intel is using a new Cypress Cove core architecture for its 11th Gen Core series, which by design feature fewer cores than the current 10th Generation codenamed Comet Lake-S. That said, the 11900K processor will lose those 2 cores and 4 threads, but in exchange, the IPC gains from newer core design should fill the gap in multi-threaded benchmarks and hopefully provide even better single-threaded performance.

In two 1920x1080p tests with the “Crazy” preset, the Core i9-11900K processor scored 6400 points (64.7 FPS) and 6200 points (62.7 FPS). Users with AMD flagship Ryzen 9 5950X were quick to reply in the original thread to APISAK, and report that the AMD processor scores 7100 points (an average of 71.9 FPS). Compared with the best 11900K’s result the Ryzen 9 5950X is 11% faster than Core i9-11900K in this particular test.

Rocket Lake will be Intel’s first mainstream desktop platform to support PCIe 4.0 interface for current-generation graphics cards and storage devices. The processors will be compatible with existing LGA1200 motherboards, but Intel will also reveal its 500-series chipsets and allow board partners to develop new series of motherboards that will also be the last, since the successor to Rocket Lake, Alder Lake-S, requires a new LGA1700 socket.

An alleged picture of this particular Intel Core i9-11900K processor had already appeared last month on Facebook:
