Greg Russo’s Next Gig Could Involve A Popular FPS Movie Adaptation

Greg Russo, the writer of Mortal Kombat (2021), has hinted he might be adapting “one of the greatest FPS games of all time” into a movie. Could a Halo film finally be on the cards?

In a recent Twitter post, Russo expressed excitement for his next big project while revealing that he could be set to direct the project:

“Long time no tweet. Excited to say I’m closing a deal to adapt one of the greatest FPS games of all time but not just to write, to DIRECT this time! Excited for some creative control 😉 … Details coming real soon. Big love.

So, what first-person shooter is Russo actually talking about? Well, there are a lot of renowned shooters out there. However, describing the game as the “greatest” suggests it will be something we all know and love. I mean, Russo’s resume now includes rebooting the Mortal Kombat cinematic universe. Perhaps the screenwriter fancies a go at DOOM next? You never know!

Of course, many Halo fans are still holding out for Master Chief’s big-screen debut. While a TV series based on the Xbox exclusive is in the works, perhaps Russo is trying to expand the franchise’s horizons. Let’s face it, watching the Chief obliterate The Covenant in an IMAX would be pretty sweet!

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about Greg Russo’s next video game movie project soon. While the writer is still in the process of “closing a deal”, it sounds like an announcement could be on the horizon.
