A dataminer is potentially discovered a GTA 5 leak, which suggests that the next-gen port will have a save transfers function.
Seemingly competing with Skyrim’s crown of how many times it can get re-released, GTA 5 is now coming to next-gen consoles later this year.
Grand Theft Auto 5 was first released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Then it arrived on PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, before finally arriving on PC in 2015. Five ports later, Rockstar Games have at least two more ports in the bag when GTA 5 releases for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 11th.
A save transfer would be great!
However, Rockstar Games have been keeping details of the next-gen port close to its chest. Sure, we know that we’ll get improved visuals, performance, and so forth. But beyond that, there is not a great deal else that we know.
Thankfully, in a story picked up by Game Rant, it seems that the next-gen port of GTA 5 might feature save transfers.
In a tweet from TezFunz2, dataminer alloc8or has been digging through that latest GTA Online update which resulted in some next-gen clues being discovered.
The potential discovery of a save transfer will surely be a big relief to fans. When GTA 5 released for PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, there was no option to transfer your single player progress. However, you could do a one-time transfer of your GTA Online progress at the time.
Having finished the single player campaign of GTA 5 on PS4, I would probably start a new game from scratch. However, for those that might be halfway through the campaign on PS4/Xbox One, being able to transfer data might be a blessing.
