Following a surge of missing consoles, online retail giant Amazon is giving priority to PS5 customers whose orders didn’t show up on release.
To say that the launch of the new generation of consoles, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, hasn’t gone smoothly is an understatement.
Despite seemingly securing a pre-order, some orders weren’t fulfilled by retailers, with many arriving very late to the paying customer, or sometimes not at all.
A number of Amazon customers in the UK reported missing consoles, or in some cases, the wrong item. Gamers reported receiving goods like Nerf guns, kitchen appliances or even cat food instead of the latest Sony console.
Customers that had not only awaited for their consoles to arrive had also paid hundreds for the next-gen systems, so to hear of consoles not arriving to customers was very worrying.
Thankfully, despite stock shortages, Amazon is expecting a fresh wave of restocks, and customers who had their consoles mysteriously go missing during transit have been offered priority to claim a new order.
As noted by Eurogamer, one of the customers impacted by the Amazon debacle was Anthony Dickens, co-founder of video game website Push Square.
“Well done Amazon UK for ‘putting it right‘. Hopefully it’ll actually arrive this time,” Dickens said. sharing a screenshot of his email from Amazon in a tweet.
Impacted customers have already been refunded for the missing consoles, and they will have to make a repayment again to re-secure their new PS5 order.
Thankfully Amazon is making that process very easy, as customers will only have to confirm with the retailer via its live text service or its phone-line to grant permission for the new console payment.
It’s great to see that Amazon is seemingly fixing this issue with ease and hopefully paying customers will get their next-gen consoles this time.
