Outriders Will Give Players Free Gifts To Make Up For Troubled Launch

Outriders players will be compensated with in-game free gifts for the troubled launch of the title from Square Enix.

Despite Outriders being a co-op online shooter, you can play it solo if you wish. However, the game currently requires a constant online connection even if you wanted to play solo.

Historically, regardless of the game in question, in this particular genre troubled launches have often been a reoccurring issue. Titles such as Destiny, Borderlands, Anthem, The Division have all had a troubled launch, with many games’ servers being unable to cope with demand.

Some games manage to work their way through the teething issues and end up being decent games, such as Destiny. However, some games simply can’t dig their way out of the launch troubles. We’re looking at you Anthem!

Outriders from developer People Can Fly (Gears of War: Judgement, Bulletstorm) does seem to have the potential to pull itself out of the hole it dug at launch, but it won’t happen overnight.

So in the meantime, People Can Fly has announced that owners of Outriders will receive the “Community Appreciation Package” as compensation for the launch woes.

After working on Outriders for more than five years, we were as disappointed as you that the launch weekend did not go as planned,” explained the devs in a Reddit post.

We are still determining when the appreciation package will be delivered.”

The free DLC will be gifted to players who had played Outriders between March 31st and April 11th.

The Appreciation Package will include one legendary weapon, a Frustration emote, and Titanium (a form of in-game currency). The Frustration emote is particularly amusing, considering the circumstances.

The free DLC will arrive next week alongside a patch that is expected to fix many of Outriders’ reported issues. You can check out the full patch notes here.

Despite playing the Outriders beta, I’ve held out from playing the full game until the issues are fixed. However, seeing as I subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, I might as well log into Outriders to claim the free DLC.
