According to reports, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 could feature the Spider-Man from the 90s animated series which aired between 1994 and 1998.
If true, this will surely please a legion of Spidey fans, because let’s face it, the animated series from the 1990s is the best series of the friendly neighbourhood hero (change my mind).
Better still, the report claims that Christopher Daniel Barnes will reprise his role as the animated Spider-Man, which would be the absolute best news.
However, the same report does claim that this version of Spider-Man will only feature in a few scenes in the sequel, but it will be cool nonetheless.
The Hashtag Show also claims the 90s Spider-Man scenes will build up towards the finale of the movie which might indicate that while the role might be small, it could still be very impactful.
Christopher Daniel Barnes has also voiced other versions of Spider-Man in multiple video games such as Spider-Man Noir, Spyder-Knight, and Spider-Man 2099. The latter of these appeared in the Into the Spider-Verse post-credits scene.
While we know very little about the Into the Spider-Verse sequel, we do know that it will feature the obscure villain, Spot, who should fit perfectly into the movie. Spot has the ability to open and travel through inter-dimensional portals.
