ASUS Radeon RX 6700 PHOENIX (non-XT) spotted with 12GB at EEC –

ASUS Radeon RX 6700 with 12GB memory?

All three rumored Navi22 parts could feature 12GB memory, a new leak suggests.

AMD has already announced the official specifications of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, the new upper mid-range gaming card that will launch on March 18th. The manufacturer did not reveal its plans for other SKUs at this point in time. It is expected that AMD is building up a stock of cut-down Navi 22 chips before it is ready to announce more graphics cards based on this GPU.

The Radeon RX 6700 XT features Navi 22 XT with 2560 Stream Processors, which is the full chip. The RX 6700 non-XT has already appeared in the leaks, but so far we have no confirmation on the GPU configuration. One would guess it going to offer 2304 cores, which would follow previous generations, such as Radeon RX 5700 or RX 580.

According to the latest leak from the Eurasian Economic Commission website, ASUS is planning seven Radeon RX 6700 XT models, that’s including factory-overclocked models. What is also interesting is that ASUS also plans Radeon RX 6700 non-XT with 12GB of memory. It would appear that two cards listed by ASUS are from the Phoenix series (PH), which represents the entry-level segment.

The 12GB memory on this SKU is a bit of a surprise because both ASRock and PowerColor have already submitted their Radeon RX 6700 to EEC last month. The EEC filings were clearly stating that the card offers 6GB GDDR6 memory, which we were also able to confirm through our sources at AIBs.

So does the new entry with RX 6700 12GB mean that AMD plans have changed? It is very likely that RX 6700 will compete with GeForce RTX 3060, which has already been released last month with the same memory capacity. AMD already confirmed that their RX 6700 XT will compete with RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB memory, the 6GB card competing with the 12GB model would have certainly looked strange.

We also have Radeon RX 6600XT which was already listed with 12GB memory (EEC listing above). One would guess that there will be a memory change on both models and 6600 XT may end up with 6G instead.
