Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla can apparently be transformed into a God of War clone, thanks to the game’s field of view settings.
While Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and God of War are both nordic-inspired, they are distinctly different experiences.
Despite this, simply tweaking Valhalla’s FOV settings can change its vibe drastically, as discovered by Reddit. The phenomenon was uncovered by Redditor TheQuatum, who tweaked Valhala’s FOV scale to match God of War’s. The result? An uncanny experience that adds a whole new dimension to Ubisoft’s RPG [via TheGamer].
God of War first adopted the viewpoint in its 2018 reboot, which features a beardy, Viking version of Kratos. The fresh new perspective gave the God of War series a second life of sorts, evolving past its conception on the PlayStation 2.

TheQuatum details how to change the game’s FOV in a Reddit post. It can be done with just two simple steps:
- Search for ACValhalla.ini (within PC game files)
- Scroll to FOVScale and change the value to 0.45000
While the console version of Valhalla doesn’t have any accessible field of view settings, the hype surrounding this PC tweak might be acknowledged by Ubisoft.

While there’s sure to be some quirks to playing the game with an altered field of view, the screenshots of the tweak speak a thousand words. There’s something to be said about peering over your avatar’s shoulder as they embark upon an epic quest.
Fancy giving this a try? Then you’ll need a PC copy of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. The game is currently available at the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft’s online store.
