AMD confirms new EPYC CPUs are set to launch on March 15th
Three times the charm, the AMD EPYC series will be officially launched on March 15th, the company today confirmed. AMD will introduce as many as 19 models featuring from 8 cores up to 64 cores. The series will all be based on Zen3 architecture, replacing Zen2 based EPYC series codenamed Rome.

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) will host a digital global launch of the new 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ processors on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET.
The digital launch is slated to feature presentations by AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, Executive Vice President of Technology and Engineering and CTO Mark Papermaster, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Datacenter and Embedded Solutions Business Group, Forrest Norrod, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Server Business Unit, Dan McNamara and appearances by industry-leading data center partners and customers.
The launch will be accessible on the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC launch site starting at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. A replay of the webcast can be accessed after the conclusion of the live stream event and will be available for one year after the event.
Apart from a new core architecture, 3rd Gen EPYC will also have higher clock speeds up to 4.1 GHz. In comparison, the current Zen2 based series can boost up to 3.7 GHz. The lineup also features P-series SKUs, which are designed specifically for single-socket systems. Other SKUs are meant to be used in dual-socket configurations.

AMD Zen3 based EPYC will be the last server CPU series for the SP3 socket. AMD is expected to launch its Zen4 5nm based Genoa series on SP5 socket which will enable bigger packages. AMD has plans to put as many as 12 CCDs on each chip, increasing core count over Milan by 32.
