‘Leaked Footage’ From The Elder Scrolls 6 Raises Suspicion

Apparent test footage for The Elder Scrolls 6 has leaked and it’s left fans feeling a little divided.

The alleged test footage in question doesn’t reveal very much, and it’s not confirmed to be from the game. There is no combat, no dragons, no spells being cast, and no tombs being explored.  It’s merely a simple nine-second clip of brief movement in what appears to be a field.

The video featuring the alleged leaked test footage was shared to 4Chan before making its way onto Reddit. Check it out below.

Upon seeing the alleged leaked footage, fans were not only questioning its authenticity but also whether it was even footage of The Elder Scrolls 6 to begin with.

It looks exactly like Rust,” said one Reddit user, which was a common theme on the thread.

It’s definitely rust, and I’m hardly a gamer and only played rust a handful of times!” agreed one Reddit user.

Another Reddit user made a good point on the footage being called “ES-VIRF” which likely translates to “Elder Scrolls VI Redfall”.

Bethesda has internal code names for all their projects (at least from recent interviews I’ve seen, namely about Starfield )”, said the Reddit user.

The user continued: “So I really lean towards this being fake for sure. Even on developmental tools, they would be using the code name, not something so obviously ‘Elder Scrolls VI‘.”

This point being made is very true and we only have to refer back to the recent data breach at Capcom where loads of future releases were leaked. The vast majority of the titles in the leaked data had codenames.

I’m in agreement with the vast majority on the Reddit thread, with or without the not-so-subtle codename. I don’t believe this “test footage” really is The Elder Scrolls 6.

I guess we’ll have to wait for word from Bethesda! However, let us know what you believe this test footage could be.
