A new rumour claims that Microsoft is about to acquire another studio, which will reportedly lead to a AAA title releasing this year.
The claims come from a recent episode of the Defining Duke podcast [via Reddit], where the hosts spoke about another Microsoft buy-out, as well as the recent Xbox Live fiasco and rumours that Knights of the Old Republic might be returning.
The podcast episode was uploaded to the YouTube channel Last Stand Media, where host ACG claimed to know a person inside of a gaming company. They state that their source claims that Microsoft is on the verge of announcing a AAA Xbox timed-exclusive.
ACG also claims Microsoft is in the midst of acquiring the studio that is working on the unannounced AAA title. While we have no clue what it might be, Reddit suspects it could be GSC Game World, developer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. Check it out in the video above, around the 17:45 mark.
At this time the rumours are unconfirmed, and we must take all rumours with a pinch of salt. (Especially when there is no indication as to what the AAA title might be, or the studio which is apparently on the verge of being acquired.)
Both of the Knights of the Old Republic games were released on the original Xbox in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Personally the more I think about it, the more I believe that this is actually possible.
However like I said, these are just rumours at this point but it’s fun speculating nonetheless. So let us know what you think this unannounced AAA title might be (if there is one at all!)
