A Ubisoft conference call has stated that upcoming releases Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine have both been delayed.
The news comes from video games analyst Daniel Ahmad, who took to Twitter to share the story from the Ubisoft conference call.
“Ubisoft’s current pipeline for the rest of the fiscal year include Watch Dogs: Legion, Just Dance, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Immortals releasing Oct – Dec,” tweeted the analyst.
A more details tweet shows a statement from Ubisoft, which reads as follows:
“Benefitting from this strong momentum and despite having moved Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Siege Quarantine to 2021-22 to leverage their full potential in the context of production challenges caused by COVID-19, our new non-IFRS operating income targets for 2020-21 remain within the boundaries we set back in May.
“Being able to maximise the long term value of our IPs while at the same time maintaining solid financial targets highlights the increasing recurring nature of our revenues, the strength of out portfolio of franchises, confidence in our holiday season release slates and current supportive industry dynamics.”
Far Cry 6 was originally set to launch in February 2021, while Rainbow Six Quarantine was due to land later this year. It seems that Far Cry 6 will now be coming “sometime after April 2021.”
Far Cry 6’s official description reads as follows: “Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their oppressive rule has ignited a revolution.”
The game features esteemed actor Giancarlo Esposito, who you probably recognise from shows including Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and The Mandalorian. He stars alongside Anthony Gonzalez, who played Miguel in Disney’s Coco.
The games become just two more delays seen in 2020 thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, which has had a huge impact on many industries, including video games, movies, television and more.
